Why Extracurriculars and International Competitions?
Participating in extracurricular activities and global competitions is of great significance for personal and academic development. These activities not only broaden horizons but also enhance university admissions prospects by showcasing well-roundedness, passion, and dedication beyond academic achievements. Demonstrating diverse interests and skills reflects effective time management and engagement in various areas of life, which universities and colleges value.
Global competitions provide an excellent international platform for students to showcase their talents. Participants gain exposure to different cultures, perspectives, and ideas, fostering intercultural competence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Competing globally enables students to benchmark their abilities against peers worldwide, promoting continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence.
Engaging in extracurricular activities and global competitions offers valuable skill development opportunities. Leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are cultivated, highly sought-after qualities in today’s competitive job market. Moreover, these activities promote self-confidence, resilience, and effective handling of pressure, essential attributes for success in any field.
Eye on Ivy, in its effort to open doors for its students to compete globally, has worked to allow any student in Pakistan to directly register for various competitions, even if their school is not registered. Students can now compete nationally and qualify for global competitions, expanding their opportunities. Eye on Ivy brings acclaimed international competitions to Pakistan, covering a wide range of subjects from Mathematics, English, and Science & Technology to Art & Design, History, Geography, Problem Solving, and Public Speaking. These contests offer platforms for students to demonstrate their talents and serve as stepping stones to achieving their academic and professional goals. They also provide unconventional yet effective ways of securing scholarships, internships, jobs, and exposure to real-world issues.
In essence, extracurricular activities and participation in global competitions play a crucial role in college applications for several reasons. Here are some key points:
Holistic Development: Engaging in extracurricular activities demonstrates a well-rounded approach to education. It showcases that an applicant’s interests extend beyond academics, highlighting their dedication to personal growth and exploring diverse areas of interest.
Leadership and Initiative: Taking part in extracurricular activities provides opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and take initiative. Leadership roles within clubs, organizations, or teams demonstrate their ability to guide and motivate others, making them stand out as potential contributors to the college community.
Skill Enhancement: Participating in global competitions often requires a high level of skill and expertise in a particular area. By competing on a global scale, students demonstrate their commitment to honing their skills and striving for excellence. This showcases their ability to handle challenges, adapt to new environments, and push their boundaries.
Demonstrating Passion: Involvement in extracurricular activities and global competitions allows applicants to showcase their passion for specific subjects, sports, or causes. Colleges value students who exhibit genuine enthusiasm and dedication as it indicates their potential to make a positive impact on campus.
Differentiation and Competitive Edge: As the college admissions process becomes increasingly competitive, engaging in extracurricular activities and global competitions can help set applicants apart from others. It offers a unique narrative that distinguishes them and adds depth to their application, making them more memorable to admissions committees.
Transferable Skills: Many extracurricular activities develop valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, problem-solving, and resilience. These skills are highly sought after by colleges and are applicable to both academic and future professional endeavors.
Overall, involvement in extracurricular activities and global competitions demonstrates a student’s commitment, personal growth, and ability to thrive in diverse environments. It adds depth to their application, making them more attractive to colleges seeking well-rounded individuals who can contribute to their campus communities.
What Students Have To Say About Us
I have participated in many international competitions hosted by Eye on Ivy. I achieved first position in Owlypia in the Science category. I also participated in TeenEagle which I got gold in. My experience with Eye on Ivy has been brilliant. This is the best way to learn and would highly recommend taking part in such contests brought by Eye on Ivy. They enhance important skills and cover almost every subject from Math to English. I benefitted from this; I hope you do too.

I participated in the Quill and Scroll Contest and I was among the high achievers. It has been an amazing experience participating in this contest and I am so glad I could do it with Eye on Ivy. It is hard to come across such interesting and exciting topics, which not only encourage students to be more creative but also ponder upon incredibly thought-provoking topics. Overall the experience has been absolutely incredible.

I participated in the Quill and Scroll Editorial Contest. The prompt for the essay was very relevant and it was nice to see a topic that was Pakistan oriented. Quill and Scroll actually makes Pakistan-specific editorial contests. I learned quite a bit about the topic and journalistic writing in general so it was a very good experience overall. I am also very grateful to Eye on Ivy for bringing Quill and Scroll to Pakistan and providing students with the opportunity to participate in such events. It really helps us to build up our profile and experience.
