Shanza N. Khan
Founder & Head Counselor
Shanza Khan holds a Masters of Arts in Public Policy from Harvard University. She was one of only two students to receive a fully funded Dean’s Fellowship and was the recipient of the Jane Mansbridge Award and Roy Scholarship. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Economics from Emory University at the age of nineteen and Magna Cum Laude in Business Administration from Mount Marty College at the age of seventeen. She has been inducted as a member of both the Omicron Delta Kappa, National Leadership Honor Society as well as the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economic Honor Society in USA.
She has over 18 years of experience working with top development organizations including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Aga Khan Development Network, MicroFinance Opportunities, Overseas Development Institute, DFID, USAID, GIZ, UNICEF, UNDP and was one of the founding members of Strategic and Policy Research Pvt. Ltd in Islamabad. She is a firm believer in the importance of research, systems, and management and founded Eye on Ivy on these principals.

Safiya Aftab
Essay Specialist & Mentor for Budding Economists
Safiya Aftab holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University as well as graduate degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and Quaid-e-Azam University. She is currently pursuing an LLB degree from the University of London External Program through self-study. Safiya has had varied professional experience, including permanent staff positions with the Asian Development Bank and the UN World Food Program, and consulting (both as a freelance consultant and with international firms). She is presently the Executive Director of Verso Consulting. Her recent research focus is on the issues of political economy and governance, including social protection, minority rights, and the economic impacts of terrorism.
Eye on Ivy is delighted to have Safiya on board both as a Mentor as well as to work with selected students on their personal statements!

Fatima Burki
Editor
Eye on Ivy is pleased to have Fatima Burki on our Experts panel. She is a Master of Arts from the University of Sussex and Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a Certificate in Copyediting from the University of California (San Diego). Her previous work includes being a Research Editor at a publishing house, Imagination Publishing, in Chicago, USA, as well as Metro Desk and In-charge at Daily Times Newspaper, Lahore.

Ali Sultan
Interview Prep. Specialist & Mentor for Budding Legal Minds
Ali is an eminent international law specialist. Besides teaching law at Lahore University of Management Sciences and the Foreign Service Academy, he regularly advises public and private stakeholders on various aspects of international law.
After his schooling from Aitchison College Lahore, Mr. Sultan earned a full academic scholarship at Middlebury College, where he read philosophy, politics, and economics, and was a College Scholar for five straight semesters. Subsequently, he attended the prestigious University of Virginia Law School for his Juris Doctor (JD), where he also edited the Journal of Law and Politics.
Given his wealth of academic and practical experience, Eye on Ivy is thrilled to have Ali on board as an Advisor on the US College and Law School admissions process. Ali will also consul students on how to prepare for the all-important college interview!

Haroon Shah
Mentor – Equity Research, Corporate Banking & Development Banking
Haroon Shah is a Senior Manager in Scotiabank`s Global Capital Markets Teams, managing the banks trading and lending relationships with Financial Institutions in 69 countries. Prior to his current role, he worked in Global Risk Management evaluating the risk of the banks corporate customers. Haroon joined Scotiabank in 2012, having spent the prior 9 years of his career gaining experience through a diverse set of roles in equity research, corporate banking, and development banking.
Haroon earned an MBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and received a BA in Finance from James Madison University.

Mariam Zia
Mentor – English Language & Literature
Dr. Mariam Zia completed her PhD in English Literature from the University of Sussex, UK in 2016. Her thesis was on storytelling and the uncanny: particularly, on the dastan genre in the context of Dastan-e Amir Hamza. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Lahore School of Economics. Dr. Zia worked at Dawn News Television for over four years in various capacities as copy-editor, assignment-editor and as a producer and anchor. Dr. Zia has two MA degrees, one from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan, in English Language and Literature (2004) and one from the University of Sussex, UK in Critical Theory (2006). She taught MA and MPhil classes at Punjab University and at Kinnaird College for Women before she began her PhD at Sussex in 2011.

Fatima Khwaja Rehman
Mentor – Biology & Scientific Research
Dr. Fatima Rehman holds a BSc. in Biology and Ph.D in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Emory University. She has worked at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center as a Research scientist and at LUMS as a visiting faculty in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) for 3 years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida. In Pakistan, she worked to develop the basic science research labs and started the Cancer public awareness campaign at Shaukat Khanum. She was also part of the founding SSE faculty developing the curriculum and the teaching program for the department of biology. After her return to the US, she worked as a research associate at Mayo Clinic for 4 years before joining the Biology department at the University of North Florida (UNF) as a full-time faculty member. She has been at UNF for the last 5 years. She currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, is involved in curriculum development and runs a research lab geared towards undergraduate student research.

Ayesha Chahat Butt
Counselor
Ayesha grew up between Pakistan and the Middle East and her heart belongs to both. She likes to joke that this ability to flit seamlessly between cultures contributed to her decision to pursue an MPhil in Sociology from Quaid- i- Azam University. In reality, it is because Ayesha is all about the research. Her dissertation topics – she holds two postgraduate degrees – include the effect of digitization and technology on social norms and culture in Pakistan as well as the socio-economic impact of CPEC in Pakistan.
Ayesha has a solid grounding in academia. Not only has she taught English Language at Becaonhouse School, Abbottabad – she has also lectured in Communication Skills at the University of Lahore. Indeed, the latter paved the way for her to take up a position at the Digital Media Wing, Prime Minister Office where she worked as a Digital Content Creator and Social Media editor. Yet, counseling is where she has happily made her home and has two years experience in this field.

Mashal Khan
Mentor – Transdisciplinary Design & Visual Communication
Mashal Khan holds a BFA in Visual Communication, Graphic Design from American University in Dubai where she won the Departmental Award for attaining the highest academic standing. She also has a MFA in Hydra Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons The New School, New York and continued to academically excel, winning the Departmental Award yet again. She is member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and International Society for Typographic Designers.
Mashal has vast international work experience in the design and social sector having worked with Verge in New York, Global Intensive Studio in Hong Kong, Paris Tokyo Design and LeoBurnett in UAE, Graphic-FX in Tennessee, Blue Underground in Virginia, Land Art Generator Initiative in Pennsylvania as well as Bussolati, Discovery Creative, Insomniac Design and ArtDriver in Washington, D.C. Currently, she is using her skills for the greater good at Kaarvan Crafts Foundation in Lahore.
Mashal uses art and design thinking to inspire people to envision new modes of living. She problematizes social issues into open-ended questions that create opportunities for co-operating learning and crafting an alternative positive future of cooperation. Her superpower is making challenging content beautiful, compelling, and accessible.

Ahmad Raza Khan
External Relations and Competitions Manager
Ahmad Raza Khan possesses a Masters in English Language & Literature and is responsible for keeping our international contest division running smoothly and overseeing administrative support. His responsibilities range from supervising, mentoring, training, and coaching our office staff and delegating assignments to ensure maximum productivity. He also coordinates with national and international partners.

Zainab Latif
Academic Coordinator
Zainab Latif did her Masters in Mass Communication. She serves as the voice of Eye on Ivy in engaging with the students, teachers, parents and schools on international contests and creates a tangible social presence and customer support orientation to help our team deliver high-impact learning experiences.

Farheen Fatima
Multimedia Manager
Farheen Fatima holds M.S Mass communication degree and looks after our social media presence on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter by creating, publishing, and analyzing content. Her role also includes engaging and interacting with social media users.

Shahid Saleem Baig
IT Manager
Shahid Saleem Baig, our IT Manager, is responsible for the smooth running of our computer systems. He supervises the implementation and maintenance of our company’s computing needs by ensuring security of data, network access and backup systems.

Muhammad Shahzad
Manager Admin and Finance
Muhammad Shahzad holds MBA Finance Degree and works as our Finance Manager; he is responsible for managing the financial health of our organization in order to promote success and growth while maintaining legal financial practices. He is responsible for financial planning to determine how to pay off liabilities and grow the business, reviewing financial documents to ensure tax-compliance and collaboration with other departments to achieve monetary goals.

Isra Arif
Editor
Isra has joined Eye on Ivy as the Editor and Creative Writer. When she is not writing, she is helping others to write or reading up on ways to write better. With no formal education in writing, she considers this a self-taught skill, cultivated steadily through freelance work and a lot of passion over the span of two years.She has studied business administration in Australia and has worked at schools and volunteered at NGOs under the administration umbrella for seven years in both Pakistan and U.A.E. She has also played field hockey at a national and international level during her time in the Middle East and still springs up at any opportunity she gets to play the sport or any sport for that matter. Legend has it, her hockey stick is always under her bed.
