The USAID YouthLead #Reaching16 Essay Contest for Young People
Youth Power -YP believe that young people are at the heart of solutions to the world’s greatest challenges. That’s why YP is dedicated to strengthening systems in communities to achieve sustainable outcomes in health, education, and political and economic empowerment. By helping young people pursue their aspirations, they empower them to contribute to, and benefit from, the creation of more peaceful and prosperous communities.
Participate in the “YouthLead Reaching16 Essay Contest” and join YP in advocating for peace, justice, and strong institutions! “Reaching 16” refers to Goal 16 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aims to promote just, peaceful, and inclusive societies. YP invites written submissions, in the form of a personal essay, that tells us about the important work you or someone you know are doing to ensure your community is Reaching16. Remember, before you can submit your essay, you must read the contest rules (access it at https://bit.ly/379z9LK). Then, click “Add Reaching 16 Contest” to submit your essay! You must be logged in as a YouthLead member to see submission button. The deadline for entries is January 15, 2021.
Open to all members of the public who are:
- Citizens of low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) as listed here;
- Aged 18-35 and;
- Members of YouthLead with a member profile that is at least 80 percent complete. Becoming a member of YouthLead is easy and free.
Judging Criteria
The Selection Committee will evaluate the personal essays based on the following criteria:
- Voice and Power
- Experience and Engagement
- Inspiration
- Impact
Application
All Entrants must be successfully registered on YouthLead. As registration may take several days to process, all YouthLead.org registration requests must be submitted at least four business days prior to the end of the Entry Period to ensure timely approval for entering the contest.
