Reform in Education: A Conversation Among Educators

The Educators’ Community, a project of seasoned educators with extensive experience in the field of education, held “University Education” session a virtual round table discussion on Private Sector Education in Pakistan. Ms. Shanza Khan, Founder and CEO of Eye on Ivy, participated in the session and offered her valuable insights to fellow educators. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz Khan, Head of Mphil in Education Leadership at Beaconhouse National University (BNU)

The panelists tackled the complexities of education reform. Diverse challenges, from tailoring programs to executing hybrid models, were explored. Ms. Shanza Khan highlighted the pivotal role students play in assessing teaching quality as students are the best judge of a teacher’s effectiveness. She mentioned that US universities rely on anonymous student evaluations to judge teachers. This helps identify good teaching methods and reward strong instructors. She emphasised that students’ perspectives are vital in gauging the effectiveness of teaching methodologies. Everyone agreed that quality assurance and feedback mechanisms are important for improvement, with emphasis on internal improvement before external checks.

To sum it up, the dialogue showcased a commitment to improving educational outcomes and ensuring quality education for all students. Despite the complexities and challenges in education reform, participants demonstrated a shared commitment to finding solutions and driving positive change within the education sector.
